Volunteering Program
Learn by serving, transform by living
Volunteering at La Pacha is more than a chance to contribute to a high-impact project, it’s an experience of personal growth. It lets people from all over the world get actively involved in living education, territorial regeneration, and community building.
We believe some of the deepest lessons aren’t found in books or classrooms, but in the direct experience of taking part in a community’s daily life, holding real responsibilities, and contributing to work with purpose.
That’s why volunteering holds a central place in La Pacha’s vision. It’s a doorway for anyone who wants to learn by doing, share knowledge, develop new skills, and experience more conscious, collaborative, and sustainable ways of living.
Why a volunteer program?
We live in a time when many people feel a need for more meaningful ways of living, let’s say a need to find themselves.
There’s growing interest in producing food, living in closer contact with nature, developing autonomy, building community, and taking part in projects that make a positive difference in the world.
But much of this can only truly be understood through experience, because…
- Reading about regenerative agriculture isn’t enough. You have to plant!
- Recognizing the importance of community processes isn’t enough, you have to live them!
- Understanding sustainability intellectually isn’t enough, you have to get involved in it!
Volunteering exists precisely as a space where people can experience these processes directly, as part of everyday life.
An experience of integral learning
At La Pacha, we understand that every person who comes to volunteer brings their own knowledge, experience, talents, and perspective. So we think of volunteering as an exchange.
Volunteers receive learning, training, and experience. At the same time, they bring energy, creativity, work, knowledge, and fresh perspective to the project.
Everyone teaches. Everyone learns. Everyone contributes.
This reciprocity is one of the founding principles of our program.
Learning through practice
Much of the learning happens by taking an active part in the daily life of the land. Depending on what’s needed at the time and each person’s interests, volunteers can get involved in:
- Territorial regeneration
Ecological restoration, reforestation, forest management, protecting water sources, regenerative design, and soil recovery. - Food production: Gardens, agroforestry, regenerative production, composting, seed work, and harvesting and processing food.
- Natural building: Earth building, improving infrastructure, maintaining spaces, natural building techniques, and designing sustainable spaces.
- Education: Supporting educational activities, the Forest School, workshops, learning events, and community learning processes.
- Community life: Community cooking, organizing activities, caring for shared spaces, celebrations, and community gatherings.
Each of these is a chance to learn practical skills and understand how the systems that sustain life actually work.
Living in community
One of the most valuable parts of volunteering is the experience of living together.
Most people have been raised within deeply individualistic models, where decisions and responsibilities are handled in isolation. Community life offers something different. It means learning to share, listen, collaborate, organize, resolve conflicts, build agreements, care for common spaces, celebrate together, and walk alongside collective processes.
These capacities are rarely taught in conventional education, yet they’re fundamental to building resilient, healthy communities. That’s why shared living is an essential part of the learning here.
A meeting of cultures
La Pacha aspires to be a space of intercultural encounter. We welcome people from different places, backgrounds, and life experiences.
Each volunteer brings a unique perspective. Each conversation becomes a chance to learn. Each cultural exchange widens our understanding of the world.
We believe diversity strengthens human and community processes — so we create spaces where differences can become a source of mutual enrichment.
Training and support
While much of the learning happens through hands-on experience, volunteering also includes training spaces that deepen understanding of the processes at work in the project.
Depending on the season and the activities underway, volunteers may take part in learning around permaculture, regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, natural building, Living Education, community development, ancestral knowledge, Buen Vivir, regenerative leadership, and project design.
Our aim is for every participant to understand what we do — and why we do it.
What does a volunteer receive?
Every experience is different, but participants generally receive:
- Accommodation
- Meals
- Hands-on training
- Mentorship
- Ongoing support
- Community life
- Cultural exchange
- Participation in educational activities
- A certificate of participation
And beyond all this, something harder to measure which is the experience of being part of a project working to build real alternatives for the future.
Volunteering also means responsibility and commitment. Each participant contributes:
- Time
- Energy
- Work
- Creativity
- Knowledge
- Experience
- Enthusiasm
- Conscious presence
A project like La Pacha is possible because many individual efforts come together into a collective force.
An experience to remember
Many volunteers arrive looking to learn techniques in agriculture, permaculture, or sustainable living. Often, they discover something deeper.
They discover that cooperation can be more powerful than competition, that nature can become a teacher, that a community can become a family, and that a simpler life can also be a fuller one.
If you feel the call to learn by doing, to live alongside people from many places, to take part in territorial regeneration, and to be part of a community working toward a more conscious and sustainable future, we invite you to explore our volunteer program.
Come and be part of the project. Discover a deeper way of relating to life.
